Yesterday Mum and I got back from Cape Paterson where we have our annual beach holiday. It's nice to get away for a week of hanging out at the beach, lots of exercise, shopping, reading (studying a bit too this year) and watching the cricket on TV. We rent a house from a friend and stay for a week. Tim hasn't come with us the last few years, but he did come down with Anna for part of our second day.
The weather in Melbourne was supposed to be over 30 degrees for most of our holiday, but we didn't feel it down there because of the sea breezes. Still, the beach was so pleasant even though I was freezing most of the time. I perfected my bodysurfing because the waves were a perfect size. I also didn't get very sunburnt as we mostly went to the beach after 3pm.
I didn't get to do as much running as I wanted to as my legs felt pretty tired. I'm still building up after not being able to run much in December. However, I had a really good session doing hill sprints on a perfect sized hill and afterwards, 200m laps of the local oval. I also got to run on the beach but it made my legs really sore so I only did it once. We also rode into Wonthaggi and back a couple of times.
On the Sunday we were there, an aquathon was being held in Cape Paterson. I was really excited as I thought they might have a fun run. Alas, they only had one event, a 400m swim and 3.5km run. I was so tempted to do it but I think I would have drowned doing the swim. I thought I especially couldn't take the chance as swimming 400m in rough seas would be very hard. But on the day the sea was perfectly calm, it was perfect conditions for the race. Mum and I went and watched the swim start and then walked back to watch the runners. There were people of all ages and abilities and it was really fun to watch. It made me really want to do it though!
Mum and I both bought a lot of clothes etc as well. I managed to spend a lot of my money from working but also got some great things at the op shop.
To be continued...
